Hanukkah is the eight-day festival of light that starts on the eve of December 25th of the Jewish month of Kislev. Also spelled Chanukah, “this holiday commemorates the rededication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, which according to legend, had risen up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt.”
