Beginner Pastels Workshop
February 26 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm$50 – $75
Students will become familiar with a brief history of the pastel medium, ingredients used in manufacturing pastels, pastel forms, and the variety of pastel surfaces. Students will explore mark making, color mixing and layering, and pastel painting techniques through demonstration and hands on practice. Students will develop self-confidence and utilize new skills through experimentation with various pastel materials and surfaces.

Meet the Artist
Francine Vandeberg’s lifelong interest and involvement in the arts is evident in her lively and enthusiastic teaching style. She is a member of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists, the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society and The Pittsburgh 10 Plus group of artists, exhibiting at various Pittsburgh area galleries including Panza Gallery, Boxheart Gallery, The Gallery at Wilkins School Community Center and the Berger Gallery at the Jewish Community Center. She strives to capture a fleeting impression, a feeling, and enthusiastically creates art with pastels, acrylics and watercolors. Francine encourages experimentation with materials and methods which leads to discovering one’s artistic vision and style. She is inspired by a variety of subjects: landscapes, seascapes, scenes discovered while traveling, wildlife and pets.
