Sivitz Hospice and Palliative Care

Sivitz Hospice and Palliative Care

Hospice care is a patient-centered service that allows people who are nearing the end of life to remain at home or at the location of their choice, among family and friends. It is focused on caring, not curing, and is chosen when a person has decided to stop active treatment for his or her diagnosis. A team of professionals consisting of nurses, social workers, pain management specialists, chaplains, volunteers, and others are there to provide compassionate support to the person and family.

Palliative care is for those with a life limiting illness but are still receiving active treatment for their condition or illness and have not yet made the decision to transition to hospice. The goal of palliative care is to provide symptom management such as pain control, energy conservation, and relief of other stressful symptoms. The services are provided by an interdisciplinary team of qualified trained staff.

Hospice and Palliative Care are time limited services, covered by most insurances, Medicare, and Medical Assistance. Care is available 24 hours a day to ensure the comfort and concerns of our patients.
