People need a network of support. AgeWell Pittsburgh provides special counseling groups designed for members to learn from one another along with resources to a number of support groups including:
Facilitated by a JF&CS licensed clinical social worker, the bereavement support group provides a safe, confidential place for those who are grieving to process and share their feelings, concerns and coping strategies with others who are also trying to cope with the many emotions associated with loss.
Facilitated by a JF&CS licensed clinical geriatric social worker, the multiple sclerosis support group provide a safe, confidential place to gain support, advice, suggestions and information about living and coping with MS. The group is open to anyone with MS, their loved ones and caregivers.
Caregiver Support Groups
Facilitated by JF&CS licensed clinical geriatric social workers, caregiver support groups provide a safe, confidential place to gain support, advice, suggestions and information about the issues and/or diseases that afflict the loved ones for whom you are caring. It is a place where caregivers can share thoughts and feelings, exchange ideas of how to manage and know they are not alone and should remember to also take care of your own needs.
Stroke Survivors Support Group
Stroke survivors and caregivers interact weekly under the coordination of a professional. The group takes part in recreational activities, rehabilitation exercises, enjoys lunch and socialization with peers.
